Shortel Raymond Stanlick was the first born son to the union of Robert & Bessie (Beardslee) Stanlick on October 14, 1952 followed 18 months later by his only sibling Robert Jr. (Bomber) He went to join his parents July 30, 2017 peacefully in his sleep. Shorty was raised and educated in Oak Ridge New Jersey, where his lifelong love of sports began, basketball, baseball, and bowling played a large part of his life. He could quote stats that would put ESPN announcers to shame. He was drafted to the US Army after finishing high school...

Shortel Raymond Stanlick was the first born son to the union of Robert & Bessie (Beardslee) Stanlick on October 14, 1952 followed 18 months later by his only sibling Robert Jr. (Bomber) He went to join his parents July 30, 2017 peacefully in his sleep. Shorty was raised and educated in Oak Ridge New Jersey, where his lifelong love of sports began, basketball, baseball, and bowling played a large part of his life. He could quote stats that would put ESPN announcers to shame. He was drafted to the US Army after finishing high school – said it was the “only” lottery he ever won. He met and married Kristine Bowden and to that union 3 beautiful daughters were born, CarrieAnn, Tara, and Corrine. That union ended in divorce. Shortel found a new sport to love when he discovered mushball in the early 90s. During that time he met his future wife Carla Stokes Mason. They wed in 1992 and celebrated their 25th anniversary mere weeks before his passing He worked for several companies, Willamette Electric – Graebel Van Lines (Miami), most notable B&B Auto Supply (now Cal-State). His 2 year battle against leukemia caused his early retirement but he retains long and lasting friendships.



He leaves to continue his legacy his brother Bob (Cathy) San Antonio Texas, wife Carla, daughters CarrieAnn (Costa) of Seaside, Tara (Joe) of Canby, Corinne (Tim) of Vancouver. His daughters in heart, Kristen of Portland, June & Nina of Miami, his sons Lenare Sr. & Derek of Miami. Grandchildren Steven, Joseph, Joshua, Jordon, Elizabeth, Johnathon, Annabelle, Zoey, Lenare Jr. & Lenae both of Miami. Beloved aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, aides and staff at Safeway Cancer Center, Providence Oncology Hematology & Sunnybrook Clinics for your care and support through this difficult journey.
